Angie Pedersen, Bell Tower Festival coordinator for the Greene County Chamber, drew enthusiastic applause after she outlined plans for the Bell Tower Big Top at the town hall meeting at the Greene County Community Center Monday evening.
Pedersen reported that carnival rides will once again be part of the festival. Amusement Associates, which has for several years provided rides and inflatables for Ogden Fun Days, will bring rides and inflatables to fill the entire east side of the Bell Tower Square. “The company has safe and fun rides for kids and grown-ups alike. They are clean and pretty and reasonably priced,” Pedersen said. Advance tickets will be available soon, she added.
With carnival rides filling one side of the square, Pedersen already has enough commitments from vendors to completely fill another side. Close to 30 vendors have already registered, “and it’s still early in the game. My goal is to have so many vendors we have to put them in Scranton,” Pedersen said.
The beverage garden has been “amped up,” according to Pedersen. Friday night will feature karaoke with Mike on the Mic. Saturday night Pop ROCKS of Minneapolis will perform. “This is the biggest and craziest act that has ever graced the Bell Tower Festival. They have over 45 costume changes and their show is crazy,” Pedersen said. “This show is so huge and spectacular we want everyone to be able to enjoy it. We’re splitting the area in half, with space inside the beverage garden and space outside so that everyone, regardless of age, can enjoy the show,” Pedersen said, and added that soda will be available for purchase on the family side of the venue.
The wine tasting will return after a hiatus, but in a new location – Sally’s Alley. Pedersen said plans are shaping up for “a lovely garden party.” She also mentioned the parade, Jefferson park and rec’s activities, the poker run and cycle show, class reunions, and History Boy Theatre’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s Company.
She encouraged people to visit www.belltowerfestival.org often for updates and complete information.
